Anish Kapoor no more in Rajasthan’s cultural Panel – as per a news on 19 November 2015, Thursday.
Anish Kapoor- had been nominated to the government council of prestigious cultural centre in Rajasthan (which allegedly is a Bjp ruled state).
Born in Mumbai and now living in Britain. The illustrious British sculptor, best known for his geometric and biomorphic sculptures made using, granite, limestone, marble and plaster, he has been very successful in captivating hearts world over.
Who recently got into tidings after his vexed comment that ‘India is being ruled by a “Hindu Taliban”. the news of him being nominated after such allegations has come across as a surprise to all. whereas, the list which consisted of those eminent names has been taken back. creating another buzz over the same.
Early on Thursday morning the reports of the list being called off came, As cancelling of one name: Anish Kapoor would have created controversy.
The statement by the sculptor creating a heat was during PM’s visit to Britain where he wrote [quote_box_center]“Modi’s regime has effectively tolerated – if not encouraged – a saffron-clad army of Hindu activists who monitor and violently discipline those suspected of eating beef, disobeying caste rules or betraying the ‘Hindu nation’,” [/quote_box_center]
He also urged the British Prime Minister David Cameron to not make any business deals with India at any cost and also taking an instance of Human rights violations in India, he wanted Modi to answer on Indian Government’s “abysmal” Rights record.
Jawahar Kala Kendra( the fulcrum of cultural activities in the capital, known as the Pink City for its historical buildings and monuments made of sandstone of the colour.) general council has 12 people nominated other than the 61-year-old Modi critic Anish Kapoor.

The CMO (Chief Minister’s Office) had made the declaration for the same on November 16.[quote_box_center] “The panel of names is nominated by the government. We do not have any role in selecting the nominees. However, the council has not yet been formed. We have to still get concurrence from the nominees.”- Pooja Sood, Delhi-based artist and also a director general of JKK.[/quote_box_center]
On 16 November, this was the only list which was released, “This is just the first list where we tried to get some eminent names. The second list will have local names.
Educationist- Homi K Bhabha, Infosys founder Narayan Murty’s writer-son Rohan Murty and Booker nominee Jeet Thayal, were among other Nominees for the same.
Now, that the list has been taken back, let us wait how the opposition will react upon it.
