Crisis in Nepal After Earthquake, Escalates After Madhesis Cancel Dialogue: After the massive earthquake early this year, which led to massive life loss and greatest destruction ever to the country. The problems don’t seem to end for Nepal. As the country is going through immense catastrophe from the natives.
The problem began on September this year when Nepal government passed a new constitution creating a social division. This controversy has eventually led to strong ethnic minorities to get down in the streets in large numbers and protest against the against this prejudice. Protesters intolerant to the new governmental strategies has also impacted the fuel export to the country.

The reports have it, this constitution was was being drafted for past seven years. The long thwarted process was whisked through after the earthquake. Instead of resolving the political disputes there came upon a pressure to sustain the power of the conservatives. Ever since its presentation the same was advocated by 90 percent of the parliament.
The greatest impact is seen on the nationals who seem highly crestfallen especially people from “Madhesis”, an area bordering India. The contention is basically around the new provision which denies full citizenship and certain essential rights to children born from a Nepali and a foreigner (people of madhesis mostly marry Indians across borders) emerge as a palpable discrimination. The new law bans their off springs from being elected to the higher office. The angered madhesis say that this is a surprising attack on to their community.
There have been violent and non-violent means of protests all over but the ignorant behaviour of the political elites and the pressure by the armed forces to suppress the protests led to stronger rebel. As a result of this tribulation the protests became so strong that aboriginal have distrusted trade routes from India to Kathmandu. Leading to fuel shortage in Nepal. As India has strongly criticised the new constitution, some believe that it’s India who is responsible to the fuel blockade as they intend to produce pressure to change. The real story remains unclear though.
The Nepal government looks all firm to take any back step. Hence, them taking a hyper-nationalists agenda by claiming that these protests are not by Madhesis adhesis but by India. Therefore leading to weakening of the movements.
As suggested by an article on foreign policy, that a great amount of Nepali population is angered because of India’ actions, which eventually might push Nepal to have closer relations with China. Whereas the local realities lay far from this as it’s difficult to set the two nations apart as the two share a great amount of geographical, language and cultural similarities.
The coming times look very crucial for the Nepal government and people as well, if the rights of Madhesis is mostly and other ethnic groups are long awaited and not looked into. This movement might just get charged up and might lead to a colossal human disaster Nepal would have ever seen. In the meanwhile, Nepalese government would have to take major steps to fulfill the nation’s fuel needs as this shortage might lead to major economic shut down for the nation.
