Guinea: Soon To Be Declared Ebola Free


It was after Nubia Soumah- a 3-Week-Old-girl, was tested negative twice in a row. she was the last active patient in treatment for the virus in the world.

The two neighbouring countries which were devastated by the virus Sierra leone and Liberia are already declared Ebola free.

For several days, the baby who was the only patient left with at a Doctors Without Borders facility in Conakry, the capital.Ebola, while she acquired the virus from her mother, who died after giving birth, was later found to be infected.

Checking it repeatedly with the doctors in Conakry,  healthcare professionals from all over the world have been following Nubia’s care.

Nubia- who ever since her birth has been in the treatment centre she has only been held by workers in their protective gears all over their body.

The virus could be defeated through a new vaccine known as rVSV, which were dispensed upon anyone exposed to it, also to the outer circle of people who had been around the virus. Pregnant women and children are not qualified for the same for safety reasons.

The whole world is waiting for these 42 days countdown to declare freedom from this deadly epidemic which took a number of lives throughout the world.
