Floyd died while being arrested, officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly 9 minutes straight. Derek continued kneeling even after Floyd stopped moving, that is after 8 Minutes and 46 Seconds. The four officers involved in the killing of George Floyd were arrested and charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder & manslaughter.
Floyd’s death sparked protests which were led by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, people gathered in the streets to try and reform the police laws in the country. It all happened when the world was facing the COVID-19 pandemic. And the USA topped the charts in terms of corona positive patients.

Thousands of people gathered at Floyd’s funeral including celebrities, politicians, and supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement.
George Floyd is buried in Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetary, Pearland, Texas, which is located near the Crystal Lake and 12 miles away from The Fountain of Praise Church where George’s funeral took place. You can locate the grave and George’s entombment in Section 45 of the graveyard.
Initially, everybody thought Floyd’s family would bury George at a cemetery situated near Minneapolis, Minnesota to place Floyd’s body at ease as quickly as possible. But the ongoing investigations and autopsy delayed the funeral for two weeks.
Following this, Floyd’s family decided to bury him in Houston Memorial Gardens, Pearland, Texas where his parents were buried.
George Floyd is buried next to his mother Larcenia Jones Floyd (1947-2018). His father George Perry Floyd (1949-2002) is also buried at the same cemetery.

Floyd’s everlasting gravesite was created by highly-qualified architects and completed on 9th June 2020. The place measures 10 feet by 20 feet and is covered with black granite stones.
When you enter the cemetery to visit George Floyd’s burial site, you will find his last words, “I can’t breathe….” & “Mamma, Please Mamma” inscribed on the stones of short granite walls around his resting place.
All Floyd’s buried in Houston Memorial Gardens have a simply carved slate marking their birth year and final year.

George Floyd’s funeral/burial took place in Houston, Texas over the course of 4 days. He was buried after 16 days of his death. The last events were held in The Fountains of Praise church; a public viewing and an invite-only private viewing enlisting the guests invited by Floyd’s family.
Four scheduled memorial/funeral services took place in Minneapolis, North Carolina, and two in Houston.
George Floyd’s body was put in a Promethean gold-plated casket, worth $25,000 to $30,000. The same casket Michael Jackson was buried with.
The first funeral service of George Floyd took place at North Central University Campus on Thursday 4th June 2020, two miles away from the place where Floyd died.
Family, friends, and supporters of BLM movement gathered to mourn the death of Floyd,. Friends close to him referred him as ‘Gentle Giant’ and was remembered as a loving father. Floyd was father to two children; one 6 years old and other 13 years old.
After his death, George Floyd’s body was transported back to his birthplace Raeford, North Carolina on Saturday 6th June 2020 in a golden casket/coffin.
Isaac Floyd, George Floyd’s uncle, sang a choir song and read Bible scripture in memory of a loving child.
On Monday, June 8, a public visitation event took place from 12 PM to 6 PM where people gathered in groups of 500 following all the safety measures like wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from one another.
The event witnessed thousands of people paying respect to George Floyd who lost his life in police custody.
The next day, on Tuesday, the private event was held from 11 AM onwards to 5 AM.
Millions of people watched the funeral worldwide from their homes as the event was broadcasted on ABC, CBS, NBS, etc.
The gold casket/coffin of George Floyd was brought to the final resting place Houston Memorial Gardens in a white horse carriage.
A huge audience and about 500 VIP guests gathered at the funeral with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Al Sharpton, Joe Biden, etc.
The American activist, Rev. Al Sharpton, presented a eulogy at George Floyd’s funeral. Sharpton presented his deep condolences to the family and called out President Trump for making systemic changes rather than trying to end protests.

George Floyd has memorials placed at numerous locations, remembering the death of an innocent Black African-American at the hands of the Minneapolis Police.
Some schools and NGOs also run by George’s last name.
George Floyd moved from Houston, Texas to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2014 after serving 5 years in a sentence for a 1st-degree felony he pleaded guilty for doing in 2007 and was convicted in 2009. The 6’6″ ‘gentle giant’ intended to start a better life in the new city, however, he ended up losing his life.
