Afghanistan had managed to get to the total of 283 runs in 47.2 over’s and they were looking very good with the bat. Afghanistan struggled at the start because they lost both their openers in the first eight over’s which brought them on the back foot but the innings was held very well by their all rounder Rahmat Shah  who managed to score his maiden One-Day International Century and managed to get his team to a good total but it was the rain which really spoiled the fun.

Scotland started off very well with the ball by picking up some early wickets but they were not able to keep the pressure on the Afghanistan team and their bowlers seemed to be leaking away runs but Con De Lange immerged as a great bowler as he was their only bowler who conceded less than four runs an over.

Both the teams are well set for the second ODI as it is the deciding match which will tell which team is better. These matches are very important for both the teams as it can be considered as a warm up match for Afghanistan who will be travelling to Ireland for a 5 match ODI series and for Scotland as well have their Intercontinental match against the United Arab Emirates on August 9.

Now both the teams will be hopping that the rain doesn’t become a spoilsport again and they could get a full match to play. Both the teams would have gained some knowledge about the strengths and weakness of their opposition from the first match and both will be looking to work on the thing that went wrong in the first match and come in the next match with full preparation.

Afghanistan has found a great talent in the name of Najibullah, the 23 year old boy who supported Rahman Shah to get past his first ODI hundred and the boy did managed to play a great knock of 89 off  just 53 balls and he was the one who totally tore away the Scotland’s bowling attack by hitting 5 sixes in his innings.

Scotland now knows about the batting strengths of their opposition and they know that they will have to take some quick wickets and they cannot take the match lightly at any point of time because Afghanistan has some great players who can really play a great role. We surely expect a great game of cricket with both the teams fully prepared to take on each other.

The match is going to be played in Edinburgh, Scotland. You can only tell how this pitch is going to play when you see the players playing on it but the weather is expected to be a bit clear from what was expected in the first ODI but you can never be very certain about some things and we can just hope for the best and can hope that we get a great game of cricket.
