The low budget movie has earned so much that it become one of the greatest hits of the year 2016.

Till Tuesday, it has collected a total of Rs. 122.65 Cr in its 3 weeks as per the tweet of trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “#Airlift [Week 3] Fri 2.03 cr, Sat 3.04 cr, Sun 3.34 cr, Mon 1.04 cr, Tue 91 lacs. Total: ₹ 122.65 cr. India biz.”
The confidential sources revealed that it has collected Rs. 223 Cr in 21 days at the end of the 3rd week and still continued to earn more from the international as well as Indian market. The confirmed overseas collection stands at Rs. 45 Cr. The movie got the status of successful Bollywood film of all time.
After “Rowdy Rathore”, this is the second movie for the lead actor Akshay Kumar which has performed great in the Indian market. It has made a profit of 210 percent of its budget while considering the worldwide business.
The real-life story based film was released along with comedy movie “Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3” and is going much better than its competitor. The story features the biggest evacuation of Indian in Kuwait during the war between the former nation and Iraq.
The filmmakers along with the lead actor are very much happy with the performance of the production. Now, the goal has been set to grab Rs. 130 Cr from the domestic BO. Not only this, it has grossed Rs. 100 Cr and become the first movie of 2016 to cross this amount in just 10 days of release.
Raja Krishna Menon-directed flick features Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles of Kuwait-businessman and his wife respectively. It also has Feryna Wazheir, Innamulhaq, Lena and more as supporting characters.
