Apple Withdraws iPhone 4S, 5C From India – A Smart Move?

Apple Withdraws iPhone 4S, 5C From India: Apple Inc has taken one surprising decision today when they announced that they are going to stop selling their iPhone 4S and 5C in India.

The primary reason which is coming behind the decision of the tech giant is that Apple has stopped the sales of Rs. 20,000 range smartphones which were witnessing fast growth but the company wanted to boost its flagging average selling price and the profits which have shrunk in the last couple of months in India.

Both iPhone 4s and iPhone 5c were the cheapest phones by the company in India which were priced at Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively. Now, after the exclusion of these two, iPhone 5s is the cheapest smartphone by Apple in India whose price is Rs. 24,000.

This is the first time that Apple is considering Indian market seriously and have accepted that Indian market is going to be very potential as far as the scope of products by the company is concerned. Keeping this in mind, they had also decided to open a development center in Hyderabad in this year. The office will be at a location of 2,50,000 Sq. feet and will employ around 45,00 people.

Pulkit Baid, Director, Great Eastern said, “It is a step to improve the Average Selling Price (ASP) which was falling since iPhone 4s and it was the highest selling phone in India due to its low price.”

According to the market data, Apple witnessed a 20% low in sales in the last quarter of 2015 as of 2014 despite the fact that there was an increase in the sales due to the new iPhone 6s which was launched last year.

The company is also going to release a new iPhone in the coming month of March and it is said that the new smartphone is an enhanced version of iPhone 5s and will be named as iPhone 5SE. It is also expected that Apple will officially launch the iPhone 5SE officially, without the support of any third party vendor and there will be the first official Apple store as well in the coming time.

The buzz is also coming that Apple is also working on iPhone 7, in which lots and lots of changes are going to be there than the traditional models of iPhone yet.

It is going to be really interesting that how this move by the company will affect the growth of sales in the country.
