Asia Cup 2016 Updates – M Shami to Miss Tournament: Indian star bowler M Shami has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2016 that is going to begin from the next week. The reason behind this decision is that the fast bowler has not recovered himself from the hamstring injury yet which he suffered during practise session in Australia in the month of January.

Shami, who played his last match for India around one year back in the Semi-Final of the World Cup against Australia was out of the team due to knee injury and went under treatment and was on rest for several weeks.

Apparently, he played the whole tournament with the injury and pain and was India’s most successful bowler in the tournament with 17 wickets.
Later, he was included in the 30 probable man for home series against South Africa but did not made to the 15 man squad as he was not completely recovered. However, he got complete fitness before the series against Australia in the January and was also included in the side but just before the match to be begin, he was again ruled out of the series as this time, he injured his hamstring and was out of the team for 4-6 weeks.
He also participated in the Vijay Hazara trophy and Syed Mushtaq trophy and bowled beautifully in the four matches he played.
Medium fast bowler, B Kumar has been named as the replacement for Shami and he will join the team soon.
In a statement released by the BCCI, it is said that they want to give him more time to recover from his injury so that he can play in the World T20 without any niggles. The campaign of World T20 2016 will begin from 15th March with India playing their first match against New Zealand at Nagpur.
The 26-year fast bowler has been one of the most successful bowler especially in the limited overs format from the last couple of years and did well in the T20 cricket as well. He was also a part of squad in World T20 2014 when Indian team reached to the Finals but lost to Sri Lanka.
The Indian team campaign for the Asia Cup will begin on 24th February against Bangladesh, who is hosting the tournament as well for the 3rd straight time.
This will be the first time that the format of the Asia Cup has been changed from 50 overs game to 20 overs match.
