Today, the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau started his visit to India for a week. This visit is just to improve the quality of business ties between two nations. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Trudeau will mainly focus on civil nuclear cooperation, space, defence, energy and educational field.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Affairs was there for receiving Trudeau at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Before the discussion with Modi starts, a formal ceremony will be organised on Feb 23.
The Saturday evening, the flight of Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire along with three children landed at IGI Airport. On Friday, the Canadian Prime Minister twitted, “Wheels up for India and a busy visit, focused on creating good jobs and strengthening the deep connection between the people of our two countries.”

In 2017, the two-way merchandise trade between India and Canada came to be $8.4 billion which split in the same amount between exports to and imports from India. Canada is the major importer of pearls, organic chemicals, pharmaceutical products, textiles, bicycles and motorcycles from India.
While Canada exports vegetables, paper, fertilizers, wood pulp, iron & steel and precious stones to India.
