Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Bollywood film Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles has hit the theaters on the occasion of Valentine’s day 2019. The musical drama has opened on a good note as far as its morning shows occupancy is concerned. It has got around 40% occupancy rate across India. It also had its world premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film festival.

Guly Boy has garnered good reviews upon its release at the box office. So, it is of no surprise that audiences are rushing to the cinema halls and multiplexes to watch the film. It’s evident from its hit music that is being loved by the youth. Moreover, when the trailer was released, nobody could themselves from talking about it.

Along with it, the film has got a good advance booking as the ticket window’s report say. So, it becomes easy to guess that Guly Boy will be a hit film and enjoy its business run. But, it will be interesting to see if this film would be able to touch the heights reached by Padmaavat and Simmba. It has the potential to become the second hit of 2019 after Vicky Kaushal’s Uri.

Uri: The Surgical Strike has started to show the signs of decline. Moreover, there is no big competitor for Gully Boy now, at least for this week. Next week, i.e., on February 22, Total Dhamaal is going to release. Ranveer’s latest film has received a very good response from the multiplexes while the single screens aren’t far behind.

Considering such a good opening rate in the morning, it is definitely going to increase later in the day. It will reach its peak in the late evening shows and then, on the first weekend. It has got a bigger opening than Padmaavat and Simmba in Mumbai and Pune circuits. It may have been possible due to the local feel of the film.

Valentine’s Day is not an official holiday, but releasing a film on this occasion is definitely a plus point for its business. The 2017 and 2018 releases Jolly LLB 2 and Pad Man got a boost of around 25-30% despite not having much for the youth. Guly Boy should receive a much bigger boost as its the film for the youth.

The exact boost that it receives today will be known only after tomorrow’s (Friday) collections. With good reviews and buzz around it, Gully Boy is on its way to box office success.
