New Delhi: On Thursday, a massive fire broke out at the Chuna Bhatti slum area in Kirti Nagar in the national capital area, Delhi. The incident took place at around 11:20 pm in night. As soon as the fire department got the news, more than two dozens of fire vehicles arrived to the spot to douse the flames. However, no casualties were reported by that time.
“At around 11.20 pm in the night, we got the information that a fire broke out in the Chuna Bhatti slum at Kirti Nagar. Around 45 vehicles are engaged in the fire-fighting operation. There are no reports of any casualty till now. Fire is under control,” said Rajesh Panwar, Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service.
In this JJ cluster, more than 20 thousand laborers are residing. The fire became even bigger and scarier when a cylinder blasted in the JJ cluster. Kirti Nagar is one of the biggest furniture markets in Asia. This slum area is situated near the railway line. The fire outbreak caused chaos in the slum area. The fire fighters brought down the fire under control at around 2:55 am. However, more than 200 shanties gutted in the blaze, but no casualty has been reported so far.
