Las Vegas: A wildfire has erupted in Mount (Mt.) Charleston, Las Vegas, Nevada today afternoon. The fire crews are battling to cease the fire in 200-acre land.
Fire units from Clark County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and Mt. Charleston Fire Protection District are clearing fire in Archery Range Road and Deer Creek Road, close to Mahogany Grove Campground, the starting point of the fire at 2:40 PM.

Four units were discharged by MFPD who reported heavy smoke and flames surrounded 10-acre land and the fire is moving with a rate of 20-30 mph. By 3:10 PM, the fire burst out to 200 acres.
Citizens living in Spring Mountain Youth Camp have been moved to safety.

“The focus remains on containing and extinguishing the flames as well as protecting exposed structures,” said CCFD Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Foley.
A power outage has been reported by NV Energy in the Kyle Canyon area. About 450 people living in the location are affected by the outage. The company asked people to stay calm and posted the company has “de-energized power lines on Mt. Charleston at the request of the fire department for the safety of firefighters and customers.”

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, both the highways S.R. 157 & 156 have been closed for public safety purposes. “Unknown at this time how long the closure will be in place. Expect Major delays and avoid the area,” the police posted on Twitter.
As of 5 PM, no injuries reports have come from the local PD & Firefighters.
The air quality surrounding the Mt. Charleston area has degraded substantially. A warning was issued at 5:30 PM.
