Some of the first titles under which he worked are – Doctor Detroit, One More Saturday Night, Overboard, Brewster’s Millions and Nothing Common. Not only tv shows, he had worked in films, too, like Dick Tracy and VI Warshawski.
Hagerty came into limelight when he worked in So I Married an Axe Murderer and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. In 1990s, he did many guest appearances on tv series like Dear John, The Wonder Years, Civil Wars, and Star Trek: The Next Generation among others.
Mike became famous worldwide when he was landed the renowned role of Mr Treeger in Friends show. He also got to star in Seinfeld classic 1994 episode – The Raincoats. In it, he played Rudy, the owner of a downtown vintage clothing store. In NBC’s Friends, he debuted in 1995 episode titled The One Where Heckles Dies. Later on, he became a recurring character.
In one of the Friends’ episodes, Rachel and Monica illegally sublet their apartment. So, Treeger threatened them to have evicted from the building. But, he agreed to keep his mouth shut when Joey agreed to teach him how to dance.
After Friends, Mike was seen in Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He played Captain McGinley in 2013. In HBO’s comedy series Somebody Somewhere, Hagerty portrayed Ed Miller, the father of Bridget. It happened in 2022.
