Amitabh Bachchan: surviving on 25% of functioning liver, suffered Hepatitis B
on Monday, Amitabh Bachchan a panjandrum and Unicef ambassador for Hepatitis B awareness programme went on to sharing his pain, regarding the disease.
While interacting with the media during a hepatitis B media awareness campaign, The Megastar revealed that due to the late diagnosis, he is only left with 25% of his liver functioning he was an acute patient of the disease.
Talking for the first time about his disease, he expressed that it was during the shooting of his movie “Coolie”, that for over 200 people donated him Blood as per medical requirement when he met with an injury while shooting for the same.

He acquired the disease as one of the persons who donated him blood was an acquirer of hepatitis B.
“By the time it was diagnosed, only one fourth of my liver was left,” said Bachchan in a video released to support the awareness campaign kicked off by the union health ministry and Unicef.
Meanwhile, he also expressed his gratitude for having got the right treatment and get cured in time but there were many who could not even get the diagnosis due to lack of resources and awareness.

Mr Bachchan also expressed a desire to interact with the field workers who work at ground level for raising awareness in the remote areas of the country.
