Chhath Puja 2015 Vidhi, Muhurat, and Timings: How to perform the Pooja: Chhath is one of the ancient Vedic Hindu festivals. This pooja is observed in Hindu nations such as Indian, Nepal and other neighbours. It is dedicated to Surya, the Hindu Sun God and Goddess Chhathi Maiya. It is celebrated to be thankful to Surya for developing and sustaining the living beings on the planet.

In India, the people mainly from the state of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh celebrates this festival with complete enthusiasm and joy. This festival comes two times annually, one is in October or November and other after Holi which is known as Chaiti Chhath. In summers, it falls on “Chaitra Shashthi”. The most popular is the one which is celebrated in winters.

This festival is very important for the population of Mithila Region of Nepal, Terai-Madhesh of Nepal and some Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. You will hardly observe this festive in the northeast region of India, Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Mumbai, Mauritius, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Jamaica, and Guyana.

The rituals of the Chhath Pooja has been depicted Vedas texts, the Rigveda contains lines for worshipping the Sun God. These rituals are somewhat similar to Mahabharata.

Chhath Puja has been practiced on “Kartika Shukla Shashthi” which falls on the sixth day in the month of Kartika of Vikram Samvat.
