SAEED JAFFREY (January8,1929 – November15, 2015)
Saeed Jaffrey, a power-pack performer, a veteran actor passed away on Sunday at the age 86 of the brain haemorrhage, in London.
The news was given to the world through a social media site (Facebook)by his niece along with the tribute to a vivacious soul.

Born in the year 1929, in Punjab, India. the actor began his career as a theatre artist, as per his associates he was the first Indian to star in a major broadway role and also to tour Shakespeare across united states.
He has also worked in many TV dramas in the UK: Tandoori Nights, The Far Pavilion and Gangsters. the centrepiece of his work has been in 1980’s series The Jewel In The Crown in the role of Nawab Mirat and Ravi Desai in the soap Opera Coronation street.

He made it big to the Big screen, with his prodigious performance in The Man Who Would Be King in 1970’s opposite Michael Caine and Sean Connery and 1982 saw him as Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in Sir Richard Attenborough’s Oscar-winning Gandhi.

In 1955 for his contribution to Drama, he was awarded the order of the British empire (OBE).
Not just the British cinema was a fan of this refined actor but he has as much contributed to Indian Cinema with his performances in 1981 release he won many hearts with his comic timing in comedy movie ‘chashme badoor’, his versatile roles include films like Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Henna, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Dil.
The actor had two marriages first one to actress-author Madhur Jaffrey, with whom he has three children ( Meera, Zia, and Sakina Jaffrey. Sakina is an actress) . The two separated in 1966 and in 1980 he married Jennifer Sorrell- a casting director.
