Election 2016: General election presidential debates announced

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) announced where and when the four 2016 general election debates will be, including three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate.

The debates will be held at universities in Ohio, Virginia, Missouri, and Nevada.

Dayton, Ohio’s Wright State University will host the first debate, on Sept. 26, 2016. On October 4, the vice presidential candidates will meet for their debate, at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.

The second presidential debate will be at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and the last of the debates will be in Las Vegas, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, will be a backup site.

Moderators for the debates will not be announced until 2016. The has sponsored and produced all of the general election presidential debates since 1988.
