1993’s Hocus Pocus is officially coming with a sequel. It initially came out in the ’90s, and since then, it has become a must-watch on Halloween for many. The ending marked the possibility of a sequel, but it seemed like a distant dream.
However, after almost 26 years, the sequel has been confirmed. There have been speculations around the film being a reboot. Although it was ruled out and it was also confirmed that it would be a sequel to the first part.
It has been revealed that Jen D’Angelo has written the sequel. Lynn Harris will produce the movie. Adam Shankman is set to direct the sequel. However, the question remains whether we will be seeing the original cast coming back. Since the movie was released a long time ago, each actor is now an adult.
Hocus Pocus 2 Cast: Will Original Stars Return?
The cast has been a big question for most of the fans. Fortunately, we will be seeing Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy reprising their roles as the Sanderson Sisters. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the news in an interview.
Doug Jones, who played the role of the Zombie character Billy Butcherson has also shown interest in reprising his role. However, apart from the Sanderson sisters, it is unclear who else will be starring in the film.
The kids are now full-grown adults, so it is unclear if there would be new additions, or the main cast will reprise their roles. There might be some additions or maybe not. Guess we will only find out when an announcement is made.
Hocus Pocus 2 Plot: What will it be about?
The sequel is still being written, and most of the details have been under wraps. It is hard to predict what will happen next. The first part of the movie was set in the 1600s. It featured Sanderson sisters being caught by the people of Salem for doing witchcraft. Before dying, they swore that they would come back for revenge.
Three hundred years later, they returned when Max, a newly transported Californian, lit the Candle of Black Flame. He dared the witches to emerge in front of him, and they presented themselves. The end notably showcased that the Magic Book winked, which meant that the witches could come back.
The sequel may pick up from where it left off or may bring some new challenges altogether. It will be interesting to see how the character’s life has changed over the years and see who lets the witches out again.
