“Sultan” featuring Salman and Anushka managed to put Rs 36.54 crore in its pocket on its opening day. It emerged as the Biggest Eid grosser of all time with this much amount. It was the Highest Day 1 opener of 2016.
The opening day collection of Rs 36.54 crore by “Sultan” is the third highest grossing opening day collection of all time.
Well coming to the occupancy, “Sultan” was fabulous in the aspect. On Wednesday, despite being a partial Eid holiday, the occupancy was all around 90 percent that even rose to around 100 percent at times in several circuits across the country.

Though the Eid holiday shifted to next day, it was still able to manage the stake. This was because of the advance bookings, due to the hype created by the flicks. Secondly, this was the only flick being cast at the screens by the owners. So with these many shows, it becomes evident of earning more money.
Though the flick failed to break the opening day record of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, yet it was able to manage the third place in the stack.
Seeing the buzz created by Salman with his flick “Sultan”, it is predicted that the flick will earn around Rs 40 crore at the Domestic Box Office. As the positive word of mouth of spread, the occupancy is bound to increase. Thereby the earnings will witness a positive surge.
“Sultan” is the second biggest opener, following “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, while the same is the biggest opener of time in the career of Anushka and Ali Abbas Zafar – director of “Sultan”.
The struggle and hardships faced by the local wrestler from Haryana form the basis of the movie. The wrestler named Sultan portrayed by Salman Khan had a tough time getting to high platforms, thereby proving his mettle there.
Directed by Ali,”Sultan” was released in around 5,450 screens worldwide on July 6th. Though the flick was destined to be released on the occasion of Eid. But there was a change in the Eid on very last moment.
Apart from Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead, the flick also features Randeep Hooda, Kumud Mishra and Amit Sadh in major roles.
“Sultan” will mint a total of more than Rs 150 crore at the Domestic Box Office in its five-day run before entering the week days, as said by the trade experts. Now will it be able to make the walk, will only be known at the end of its first weekend.
