Following a Game 5 loss, a New York Rangers supporter punched a Tampa fan. People on the internet have gone crazy seeing this fiasco. The name of the fan has been identified as James Anastasio from Staten Island. The fight video is available below.

What triggered James Anastasio?

The Tampa Lightning tipped the scales in their favor. With a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, Tampa took the lead by three goals on the Eastern Conference final series scoreboard.

The game was so close and it was just a matter of 1-1 score, Tampa Bay’s players successfully made the last two goals in five minutes. This was a disappointment to NY Ranger’s fans. 

James Anastasio was at the game and very disheartened to see his team lose. He got into a verbal argument with the NY Rangers fan, and when their argument escalated he punched the Tampa Fan.

What happened after James Punched the Tampa Fan?

As soon as this scene occurred, Tampa fan was knocked out and wasn’t responding when people tried waking him up. The attacker was calmly walking out of the stadium towards the exit. A witness saw him and ran to stop him, however, James assaulted him as well and walked towards the exit. 

The whole fight video was recorded on a phone and uploaded on Twitter. The video has now gained more than 1.5 million views.

Is James Anastasio Under Arrest?

While at MSG, James was identified and arrested. However, he has denied the charges, but he is still in the process of being tried for his crimes. The victim’s name has not been released yet.

If a prompt bail is not organized he will likely be in jail for the weekend. He was stopped by multiple fans but he continued to punch the rival team’s fan and knocked him out. The 29-year-old James has been taken into custody for committing two assaults.
