Babylon Berlin just completed its third installment and fans are eager to know if there is going to be a season four. Let’s get into the details and find out everything that has happened so far.
The show first aired in 2017 and became an instant hit. It is set in Germany through the 1920s following a police commissioner posted in Berlin trying to solve horrific crimes. After successfully delivering three seasons, it was confirmed by the creator of the show that they are bringing another season soon.

In season four, we are hoping to see most of the main cast come back like Volker Bruch as Gereon Rath, Liv Lisa Fries as Charlotte Ritter, Leonie Benesch as Greta Overbeck, Lars Eidinger as Alfred Nyssen, Misel Maticevic as Der Armenier, Fritzi Haberlandt as Elisabeth Behnke, Karl Markovices as Samuel Katelbach, Hannah Herzsprung as Helga Rath, Jordis Triebel as Dr. Volcker, Jens Harzer as Dr. Anno Schmidt, Benno Furmann as Oberst Wendt and Thomas Thieme as Karl Zorgiebel.
Nothing has been confirmed so far regarding the cast of the show. It remains unclear if there will be any additions to the show.
What will the plot of Babylon Berlin season 4 be?
The third installment left us on a cliff-hanger wondering what will happen next. However, Handloegten revealed in an interview that they would be picking plotlines from the Volker Kutscher’s third novel. He and his creative team are working on creating a slightly different storyline. The characters are set to live a completely new story.
They have also hired two female writers for the show. He said they would love to have a female’s viewpoint.
The third novel follows an American gangster called Abraham Goldstein, who is placed under surveillance by the German police and Rath. It also focuses on growing Nazism. He also mentioned that they have a specific end in mind.
Qiez, a journal magazine has stated that the fourth season is going to consist of Goldstein: Gereon Rath’s third case and The Fatherland Files: Gereon Rath’s fourth case. The first novel takes place in 1931 during the Great Depression, while the second novel is set in the year 1932.
If this happens, we may see at least two more seasons. Handloegten said they have plans of taking the series up to the year 1933. Although they are not sure how many more seasons will happen.
When will the Babylon Berlin season 4 release? Premiere Date

Since Coronavirus has affected a lot of productions, it remains to be seen if the show will be delayed or not. If the series gets to be released in 2020, we may get to see it around December. But the release dates are prone to change now and then.

Since the show is still under process, there is no trailer out yet. Netflix usually releases the trailer a month before its release. We may see the trailer towards the end of 2020 or early 2021. However, you can watch the trailer for the third installment below.

So far, we have seen that the show has had eight episodes in the first two seasons, in season three there were twelve episodes. In the fourth season, we are expecting to see at least eight episodes. The runtime of the show is expected to be around 45 minutes.
