Since Hannibal concluded in 2015, fans have been waiting to see another season on screens. While the show remained to cancel, a ray of hope came when Netflix announced that the show was going to be available for streaming from June onwards. Season four has been a very speculated topic for a long time.
Even the showrunner has not given up on the show yet. So, will there ever be a season four? It is still one big question. Let’s get into the details and find out everything we know so far.
Will there be a Hannibal season 4?
When season three concluded, it was known that season four wasn’t going to happen. While the showrunner Fuller remained hopeful, though things didn’t change. Recently, Mikkelsen put up a post on his Instagram account teasing season 4.
At the same time, he announced that the show was coming to Netflix with its existing seasons. We have seen Netflix has also renewed Lucifer for another season after Fox canceled it. It won’t be a surprise if the same happens with Hannibal even though the officials have confirmed nothing.
We remain hopeful that things will change and we will get to see a new season again.
Hannibal Season 3 Plot: What happened?
The first half of season three was focused on Hannibal’s new life in Europe, while the second half focused on the Red Dragon. In the finale, when Crawford learned that the body they found wasn’t Dolarhyde’s. Graham suggested that they use Lector as bait, and Lector agreed to the plan.
However, Crawford and Graham planned on killing both Lector and Dolarhyde. When the plan was in action, Dolarhyde attacked the convoy carrying Lector and killing all FBI agents except Graham. He then escaped from the scene with Lector and Graham. He took them to the cliff-side house.
Dolarhyde attacked Graham, and then he stabbed Lector on his stomach. Seeing this, both Graham and Lector decided to work together and kill Dolarhyde. Graham then pulled them both off the cliff with unclear fates.
However, the post-credit scene showed that Du Maurier was sitting on the table with her leg cooked and prepared. We have been left on a cliff-hanger, and the next season may proceed from here.
What to expect in Hannibal season 4?
The show is based on the novels of Thomas Harris. Initially, the show was meant to have around seven seasons. While the third season was ongoing, they were also trying to obtain character rights for Clarice Starling.
Although now that CBS is coming with its show based on Clarice, Hannibal’s chances of getting the rights will be slim. Season 4 would have followed Red Dragon, and season five would be based on The Silence of Lambs. However, that won’t be the case now. When asked Dancy, he mentioned that Fuller has an incredible idea.
It will be a complete restart, which will take us back to season one but give us a clear sense of the cliff-hanger at the end of season three. So, if season four ever happens, be ready to see some more thrilling visuals and a refreshed look. (check: Santa Clarita Diet Season 4.)
