Highschool DxD Season 5: This Japanese anime series has built a serious fanbase around the world. The viewers have been watching it for many years now. Till date, the High School DxD has got four seasons in a row. The fan following is superb and competes with the most-watched animes across the globe. (check: Pirates 6.)
It has been a pretty long time gap between the end of the season 4 and as of writing this. The people have been waiting anxiously for it to be released. Also, it’s not known if it would come back for a fifth run or not. At-least, the makers should answer this question. It is totally understandable that they are growing weary and wondering why is it taking so long?
Fortunately, there seems to be a ray of hope as we got an official word on it. First of all, it’s that the studio which had produced the first four seasons will no longer work on the anime. It was the main cause of delay between the fourth and fifth season. Also, there has been a serious lack of news.

It looks like nobody wants to say anything until and unless they have got something concrete to talk about. So, everyone in the team stopped talking about the project. It’s a kinda good decision as it will stop them from putting up false information out there. However, we now know that it will definitely happen.
It is being speculated that it will come out in Japan in June 2021 as per many rumors. It’s because there hasn’t been enough news from Passion Studio and Sueda for now. The production won’t start until the COVID-19 crisis comes under control. The volume 11 and 12 will play as the origin of the new installment.
However, an exact Highschool Dxd season 5 release date hasn’t been revealed yet. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of months to do so. But, considering the global pandemic situation, it looks like it will be delayed further for an unknown amount of time until the crisis comes under control.
Another reason for changing the production studio was for the fact that the makers wanted to closely follow the graphic novels. The previous studio wasn’t close enough in their works. If you have been an avid fan and read the novels, then you must know that as the previous studio proceeded with the seasons, the story got further and further away from the novels.
They had started creating a new story for the anime. Things may get unpredictable as it’s a very popular series among the fans. It may also be plausible that the anime fans may have started liking the old flavor and might want to follow the story that ended with the fourth installment.
However, there is part of fanbase that feel frustrated upon watching the anime and reading the novels as they feel like being exposed to two completely different things. It must have come from a major part of the fan-following that such a decision (to change production company) was made officially.
On one hand, we can say that the new studio hasn’t been lenient on revealing the latest updates. On the other hand, they have confirmed that they have been scrapping many of the things that happened in the past four installments and things are getting back to their roots. It’s a sort of good news.
But, we still don’t know exactly what will happen next. They are of the belief that moving a story close to the original novel will give them good results. It’s because the majority of the viewers have been demanding and expecting this in season five. They have been waiting anxiously for a long time now.
Also, they should have considered by now that changing the story could result in losing some of the fanbase as they might not like that change. However, it will increase the number of followers on the other hand. It’s already known that a part of novel fans don’t like to watch the anime as it didn’t follow the novels closely enough.
Ultimately, it will a personal choice to watch a show or not. Still, it is safe to assume that those majority of the viewers who have become fans of the show over the years will stick around and appreciate what’s coming next or will at least give it a chance.
If they happens to give it a chance, they will start liking the story even more as they will likely get engrossed in the story all over again. It’s because of the fact that the source material is capable enough to draw new people in and keeping their attention intact.
Well, we all can hope that the wait gets over soon and let the people decide themselves if they like the new season or not. It shouldn’t be more than a few months before we can see it in reality. Everybody wants to watch a show that looks like an old friend but with something that feels new and refreshing at the same time.
