November 7 – Mizoram, Aizwal: A major step of revision over the polls in the bru relief camps was demanded by a group of political parties & civil societies in order to ensure that the state executives were not compelled to proceed with the fulfillment of the special summary revision by the Election commission of India of the voters’ lists in Tripura’s Bru relief camps.
It was five of Mizoram’s main political parties and civil societies respectively which got together in a joint meeting to make the resolution. The importents part of the meeting were the leaders of the YMA, Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) or the Mizo women federation, Mizoram Upa Pawl (MUP) or Mizo elders association, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or Mizo students federation, Mizo Students Union (MSU), ruling Congress, Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP), Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) and the BJP.

Lalbiakzuala, president of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA), headed and supervised the meeting, there was an overt anguish by him over EC’s constant attempts towards conducting a summarised revision of electoral rolls in the Tripura relief camps.
As claimed by the electoral roll, “important official documents were sent to the leaders of Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum (MBDPF) in the relief camps as the MBDPF were not designated officials”, the meeting said. Also, it demanded election officials to retract the documents and also aborting the actions of ECI as “illegal”.

A decision to convey the desires of the people of Mizoram to the ECI (Election Commission of India) and the Union Home Ministry a delegation of NGO’S Coordination Committee and Political parties would be sent to Delhi soon. Also, a thought over the dilemma of the tribals in Manipur be discussed with the centre was given.
