More than 200,000 without power in North Carolina after severe storms

Duke Energy’s power outage map shows that more than 200,000 houses are out of electrical power over the North Carolina due to harsh storm jolted early Monday morning. More than 20,000 customers in the Piedmont Triad are also affected.

Everybody in the are should be prepared to stay safe. Here are some tips:

  • Charge your smartphone/cellphone.
  • Find your emergency kit including batteries, torch, food, water, first aid kit, medical prescriptions, and some cash.
  • Fuel up your generate, if you have one.
  • Make your car has the gas before storm comes.
  • Make distance of at least 30 feet from the downed power lines, as they can be extremely dangerous during this time.
  • If you found any torn up electrical wiring or something similar then call corresponding authorities to take care of that.

Yadkin – 5,000+
Guilford – 4,800+
Wilkes- 1,000+
Davidson – 800+
Alamance – 1,900+
Randolph – 2,800+
