These talented actors have been in several blockbuster films and are in high demand since they have made a name for themselves in the industry. Given that they have appeared in American and British films, you might not be aware that many Australian performers are local to this nation. Here are eight of Australia’s top actors.

  • Margot Robbie 

Margot Robbie launched her career in the entertainment industry in 2008 and has since enjoyed an astronomical rise to fame. The Hollywood star was born in Dalby. Queensland, on July 2, 1990. During the early years of her career, Robbie had roles in various independent films and also featured on ‘Neighbours’ from 2008 to 2011. In 2013, she featured in a movie called ‘About Time,’ and portrayed Charlotte, and also starred in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. While she has starred in many other movies, her role as Harley Quinn in the 2016 ‘Suicide Squad’ film remains the most famous.

On August 2, 1976, Sam Worthington was born in England, but his family moved to Perth when he was just two months old, giving him Australian citizenship. The year 2000 marked the beginning of Worthington’s acting career when he took the role of Mitchell Okden in ‘Bootmen.’ In 2004, Sam had his first significant role in the film ‘Somersault’ and got the lead role in the Australian version of Macbeth two years later. He is also a two-time and three-time winner of the Golden Globes and British Film Academy Award, respectively. Geoffrey also won Screen Actors Guild Awards four times. But when he was 14 years old, his family went to New Zealand, and when he was 21, Russell did too, making Australia his new home.Crowe’s career in the entertainment industry began in 1985 but his first feature was in 1987 in a film called ‘Neighbours.’ The first movie for Russell Crowe to ever feature in was ‘Prisoners of the Sun,’ whereby he played Lieutenant Jack Corbett. Since then, Crowe has featured in many hit movies, including ‘Master of Steel.’ Crowe portrays Jake, a tech millionaire who invites childhood buddies to his opulent mansion for what develops into a high-stakes poker game, in his most recent film, Poker Face. Guy Pearce was born on October 5, 1967, in Cambridgeshire, England, but his family relocated to Victoria in Australia when he was five. His role as Mike Young in the Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’ made him famous. Guy Pearce also has a successful career in the film industry, with some of his notable films being The Proposition, Queen of the Desert, The King’s Speech, ‘The Count of Monte Cristo,’ and Prometheus.’

Toni Collete, an actress and musician, has acted extensively on stage, on TV, and on film.
