Season 7 of Orange Is the New Black released in 2019 and we bid adieu to the show. The show ended with 91 episodes and seven seasons to binge on. It follows Piper who is imprisoned and changes she sees during the years of her imprisonment. While fans got hooked and were moved by this show.
This show also received amazing reviews and ratings. It is rated as 8.1 on IMBd. It has been nominated for Golden Globe Awards several times and has also been able to grab four Emmy Awards. Taylor Schilling won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama.
It also became the first show to receive an Emmy nomination in both comedy and drama. In 2013, it was selected as one of the top ten tv programs of the year by the American Film Institute. We saw amazing actors like Laura Prepon, Taylor Schilling, Ruby Rose, Natasha Lyonne, Uzo Aduba, Dasha Polanco, and Lauren Lapkus.
All the episodes are available to download and stream/watch on Netflix. The question is whether the show is gone for good? Or will it be back? Why did the show get canceled? And what happened so far on the show?
Will there be an Orange is the new black season 8?
It was mentioned in October 2019 that this season is the last one. Kohan said that it was time to be released from prison. She said she will miss the ladies of Litchfield. Although the viewers were increasingly high for this show, Netflix and the creators decided to end the show. It is said that this was a mutual decision.
They thought it was the right time to end the show here. This gave them a chance to create a perfect ending, which they successfully did. There are still speculations of a spin-off. However, it will be amazing to see spin-off. It hasn’t been official. The season just ended so maybe we will know more about it in the future.
What was the plot of OITNB?
OITNB is basically based on a novel that explores the life of Piper. She is arrested for laundering money. It focused on how her life changed. However, on Netflix, it focused more on other characters as well who came from different races, ethnicity, etc.
In this series, it was shown how everyone had a story and how much it was important just like the protagonist. In last season we saw how Piper had become this new person. She started doing the unthinkable and was also released from prison. The overall seasons where the character arc was built, gave a new life to Piper.
We saw Piper and Alex got married and it was officiated by Nicky Nichols. Piper’s sentence then got reduced and she was released and had to leave Alex behind. Later she Alex gets moved to Ohio prison and so Piper moves there too. Overall it was a very emotional episode.

Is there an OITNB spinoff?
If the spin-off of the show happens, we are likely to see what happens after Piper gets released from the prison, and how she goes on to commence her life. We may see what has changed for her over the years after she was released. How she and Alex cope up far from each other.
We expect to see the entire cast be back for the spin-off without them it will be incomplete. However, this is still just speculation.
