Prepare yourself for another fantastic run of madness as season five of Riverdale is happening soon. Per the CW, a bunch of shows was given early renewal including this particular teen drama. As of now, it’s unclear when and how its production will start. By the end of season 4, our favorite teens graduated high school.
However, the filming process for the upcoming installment has been affected due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. To be specific, the filming for the final few episodes was suspended as the safety precautions. The school year couldn’t be wrapped up. So, we will have to wait for more to get to know the departing storylines of both FP Jones and Hermine Lodge.
Only writers can confirm what’s going to be the next for them. As per the reports, the show is going to experience a time jump. Both Skeet Ulrich and Madchen Amick have confirmed the same. The jump will be of five years in one go. Let’s see what’s more to know about the show.
Will there be a Riverdale season 5?
As said above, yes it has been confirmed alongside some other CW shows. However, it’s unclear when will the filming process begin as it has been affected by the coronavirus crisis.
However, we know that it will continue with a new theme, and there is going to a prom scene as the installment opens up. It has been one of the most engaging series on Netflix.
Riverdale season 5 Release date: When will it premiere?
There has been no official update regarding the premiere date for Riverdale’s fifth season. Going by its release schedule, it should start airing new episodes in October 2020. If the coronavirus issue continued, then it will delay the show for sure. Productions for almost every show have been shutdown affecting the filming schedules.
Under normal circumstances, the filming for the series would start in July 2020. But, it’s not a normal condition. So now, it all depends upon how and when the virus situation ends. The starting of production services requires careful inspection and decision. But, there is a piece of good news. It’s that the writing for season 5 has already started.
Riverdale airs on The CW on Wednesday night in the US. It comes on Netflix on Thursday, the next day, in the UK/internationally.
How many episodes will be in Riverdale season 5?
As usual, it should consist of a total of 22 episodes. It may change as we don’t know when will this virus crisis end. There is no official word on the number of episodes yet. According to writer Ted Sullivan, the upcoming installment will start with the three remaining episodes of season 4. Two of them haven’t been filmed yet.
Riverdale season 5 cast: Who is leaving and who is returning?
Cole Sprouse will return in the next segment as the mystery surrounding Jughead is still there. The confirmed returning members of the series are Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, KJ Apa, Madelaine Petsch, and Vanessa Morgan. Charles Melton and Casey Cott should also return.
The confirmed cast members to leave the show are Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols. They won’t be seen in the upcoming segments. However, there is room left for these characters. So, they might return depending on the will of writers. Madchen Amick confirmed that she will return as Alice.
However, we don’t know about Mark Consuelos yet. But, he has shot an episode of Katy Keene, set 5 years in future. So, Hiram will still be at large within the universe. Molly Ringwald, Martin Cummins, Nathalie Bolttt, and Robin Given will be seen in recurring roles.
We don’t know if any other cast members will be leaving or not.
