The internet is talking that Shop With A Cop program ends/discontinued or not happening in 2020. People are questioning Target on Twitter about the genuinity of the rumor.
Target departmental store organizes ‘Shop With A Cop’ event every year around Christmas to help the underprivileged kids celebrate the winter holidays with joy.
Every year about 100-200 underprivileged students are selected from various school districts in the United States by the corporation and the police aids to buy gifts to children for themselves or their families.
Shop With A Cop event started in 2009, but the program is rumored to be ending or not celebrated in 2020. People are tweeting about the same saying that Target will lose its consumer base and fan following if they decide to discontinue the program. Check out some tweets.
Target Stops/Cancels/Ends Shop With A Cop Program 2020: Twitter
The internet believes that the program which helped kids have fun on the holidays is “not happening this year” and that Target is “hurting kids” by this decision.
@Target I have recently read, Shop With a Cop is not happening this year. You are hurting kids in need by doing so because of some bad seeds. Look back at the gallery of kids who had a Christmas and tell me who you are really hurting.

One user mentioned that Target will suffer in both the conditions whether they decide to organize the event or not.
@Target in the next few days or weeks you’re probably going to attacked for your shop with a cop compaign. One side is calling for a boycott because you cancelled the program and the other side will be calling for a boycot because you haven’t cancelled it.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has canceled major events in 2020 such as awards shows, concerts, festivals, etc. The National Free Slurpee Day, which happens on July 11 every year, was cancelled recently.
So is Target Shop With A Cop 2020 Ended/Stopped/Canceled?
Target has not replied to the rumors anywhere on their official social media accounts nor they have released a press statement. People are still confused and asking Target to make people aware of the circumstances as soon as possible, otherwise, the cancel culture will definitely affect the store.
UPDATE: A Target’s spokesperson told Snopes.com that “the program will continue, although details about how it will move forward amid the COVID-19 pandemic are still pending.”
@Target @RealJamesWoods I hope what I heard about Target not participating in Shop with a Cop is not true is so I am done with Target #boycotttarget
