On Sunday, June 5, 2022, a 34-year-old Black Boxer was killed in South Street mass shooting in Philadelphia. Gregory Jackson, also known as Japan Jackson, was a well-known wrestler.
The massacre occurred in the middle of Philadelphia’s celebrated limb. A mass shooting took place in the midst of Philly’s popular length when everyone was out partying over the weekend. Around 14 individuals were wounded; 11 sustained critical injuries, while the others died instantly, namely, Alexis (27) and Kristopher (22).

Gregory Jackson was one of the victims of the South Street shooting. He was a boxer and trainer from Philadelphia who taught kids boxing and the art of self-defense in local schools.
He used to instruct youngsters of all ages in boxing and self-defense. Many of his enrollees came from Black communities. We spoke with one of Japan Jackson’s student’s parents, a mother who trained her 9-year-old son with him. Boxer Japan was said to be excellent with children by the parent.

Under the brand name “Loyal Boyz Boxing gym,” Japan Jackson used to run a boxing and fitness program for children and adults. The age at which kids could join was six years old, providing many youngsters with confidence in the community.
Jackson had a fitness program for youngsters that focused on teaching them how to defend themselves in dangerous situations. He was known as the ‘big brother’ by most of the kids in the neighborhood of Haverford Avenue.
“Boxing saved his life,” Japan Jackson has said. He used to believe that learning how to defend oneself takes a certain amount of dedication. According to him, if a person can be dedicated enough to memorize someone else’s rap and still get nothing out of it, the same person can apply the same mental discipline to learn boxing.
He was also involved in a charitable organization called “AS I PLANT THIS SEED,” which helped disadvantaged youngsters by providing free sessions with the aid of his friends in the community.
