Ragnarok Season 2: It’s great news that Netflix has renewed its Thor-some series Ragnarok for a second run. When the fans of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) were waiting for Thor: Love and Thunder, this series of the giant streaming platform came as a surprise package. (check: Mariah Carey Bio.)
Netflix has taken its unique take on Norse mythology in its original series Ragnarok. The show also has the God of Thunder as its central character. But, in it, he doesn’t have the impressive physique of Chris Hemsworth as an adult. Instead, the show talks about a teenage boy who doesn’t even know that he is a deity.
The series was initially meant to be sold as Thor meets Skam. Though it has proved to be a good investment for Netflix as it has seemingly performed well as the fans liked it, the critics didn’t appreciate it that much yet. Like God answers to no one, the same is for the streaming service.
It’s doesn’t matter if the critics like the show or not. The renewal depends upon its success with the fans. It doesn’t matter what the journalists think of it. That’s the reason why it has been renewed for season two so quickly. So, we can that there will be season 2 of Ragnarok.
Ragnarok Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere on Netflix?
As it is clear by now that it will officially return for the second installment. We can expect the new episodes to return around the same time of the year 2021 as the first one. However, the premiere might face a delay due to the current condition around the world because of the coronavirus pandemic.
It would be interesting to see if it can expand beyond a total of six episodes in the second season. Having only 6 episodes felt kinda short chapter. If it happens, it will give the writers ample space to explore a variety of topics and unique take on Norse mythology. Will that be right? What do you think of it?
Ragnarok Season 2 Cast: Who will star in the next chapter?
The second run of episodes is coming soon. So, the main cast members will return for sure. There is no doubt about that. The following cast will also reprise their respective roles as mentioned.
- David Stakston as Magne
- Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits
- Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor
- Theresa Frostad Eggesbø as Saxa
- Emma Bones as Gry
- Henriette Steenstrup as Turid
- Synnøve Macody Lund as Ran
Considering the first finale, we don’t know if Vidar would be able to return. It left Vidar’s fate hanging in an unknown state. Irrespective of the fearsome giant survived or not, he is still a better option than Isolde. The activist friend of Magne was killed early in the installment. It was an unfortunate trope where LGBTQ+ characters are killed off to open the story for their straight counterparts.

Ragnarok Season 2 Plot: What will happen next?
The end of the first season of Ragnarok featured an epic fight between Thor Magne and Vidar. During the battle, a time had come up when it looked like our beloved hero would lose the fight. But, Magne called down lightning. It resulted in finishing the battle. Perhaps, Vidar also died with it.
The second season should pick up right from where it ended in the first one. We expect that in the upcoming chapters Magne will face the remaining giants. And, in the process, he will develop his celestial heritage further. There have been some hints that suggest his brother Laurits is actually Loki.
If it is so, we may get to see Loki as a new villain at some point in the show. The character would be explored more if it happens.
Ragnarok Season 2 trailer: When will we see a promo?
Unfortunately, we don’t have any teaser trailer for the next chapter in the series. It looks like we need to wait for more to get new footage. In the meantime, you can always watch the first season on Netflix. Also, you can take a glance at how Marvel’s Thor has changed over the years.
