Shaman King first came out in 2001 in Japan and then an English version was released in the USA in 2003. The show consisted of 64 episodes and was loved by many. It also received a positive response from critics in both the anime and manga section. Originally came out in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1998.
The series ended in 2004 and it didn’t receive an ending it deserved. Both anime and manga have come in the top ten lists in their respective fields as well. Now if you are a fan of the franchise, we have good news for you.
The anime has been given a green light for a reboot. The news was announced on the official website of the Shaman King. It is going to be an adaptation of all the thirty-five manga books written by Hiroyuki Takei. So, let’s find out everything we know so far about the rebooted anime series.
Shaman King Plot: What is it about?
The anime is based on the Manga created by Hiroyuki Takei. It revolves around a 13-year-old boy named Yoh Asakura. He can communicate with the spirit world. He wants to become a Shaman King who can contact the Great Spirit, the most powerful spirit.
Since once someone becomes a Shaman King, they can shape the world the way they like. In order to become a ShamanKing, Yoh has to fight other shamans to gain that position and this is his once in a lifetime opportunity as it happens on once in 500 years. So, the series will be following the same storyline.
Originally this book has thirty-five volumes and it has been mentioned that the show is going to start from the beginning and will be covering all the volumes along the way. So that means we are going to see a lot in the future.
Shaman King Cast & Characters
As of now, it has not been confirmed who will be lending their voice in the show. In 2017 there were rumors about a reboot happening. Which was then ruled out by Takei. He said he was approached by someone but he had to let it go because they were unable to use the original theme song and actors.

When will Shaman King release? Premiere Date

As of now, there is no legal way to stream the episodes of the original series. However, it won’t be a surprise if sites like Crunchyroll or Funimation get the distribution rights of the show. Since the announcement for the renewal has been made.
