Snowpiercer just concluded its first season, and fans are already waiting for the second season. It is based on the French Graphic Novel Le Transperceneige and Bong Joon-ho’s movie with the same name. It grabbed a lot of attention while airing, and the last episode garnered the highest rating in the entire installment.
Luckily, the show was renewed before the first installment aired. Let’s get into the details and find out when it will release, what the plot will be, and everything that has happened.
When will Snowpiercer season 2 release? Premiere Date
As of now, there has been no announcement regarding the release of the show. Fortunately, the team was able to complete most of the shoot for the season. However, two episodes are remaining to be shot.
Actor Annalise Basso mentioned that she was excited as they were finishing the filming before everything closed.
Since the show has completed shooting almost all of their episodes, those episodes’ post-production may get slightly delayed as the lockdown has made post-production operation a little slower.
The show will be first aired on TNT, and then it will be available for the audience worldwide. We may likely see the second season on air between May to July 2021.
Who will be in Snowpiercer season 2 cast?
We will most likely see the show’s main characters back like Jennifer Connelly as Melanie Cavill and Daveed Diggs as Andre Layton.
Along with them, we may see Mickey Sumner as Bess Francis Till, Alison Wright as Ruth Wardell, Iddo Goldberg as Bennet Knox, Susan Park as Jinju Seong, Katie McGuinness as Josie Wellstead, Sam Otto as John “Oz” Osweiller, Sheila Vand as Zarah Ferami, Mike O’Malley as Roche, Annalise Basso as Lilah “LJ” Folger Jr, Jaylin Fletcher as Miles, Lena Hall as Miss Audrey and Robert Urbina as Javier “Javi” de La Torre.
Joining them in the installment two will be Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford and Rowan Blanchard as Melanie’s daughter Alexandra Cavill.

So the good news is we do have a promo for season two. TNT released a 30-second promo. You can check it out below.
What will the plot of Snowpiercer season 2 be?
The end of the first installment kept us wondering what will happen next. Season two will likely pick up from where the series left off.
In the finale, we saw that Melanie handed the control of Snowpiercer to Layton, while he was planning to set up a democratic administration. When they reached Chicago, the engine picked up a mysterious signal, which turned out to be from Big Alice, a supply train running on a prototype. It was revealed that Alexandra was not dead after all.
Season two will likely focus on the dynamic between Alexandra and Melanie. It will be interesting to see how the survivors will impact Snowpiercer and Layton’s control over the train. It may also focus on the different classes of passengers and their struggles in the post-apocalyptic world.
In the trailer, we can see that Mr. Wildorf is coming back to claim what’s his. It looks like he is going to be the antagonist in the second installment. With Bean coming into the show, it already looks very promising.
Basso hinted that the characters wouldn’t get off the train anytime soon. She said to Radio Times, “I hope one day we’ll be able to take viewers off of the train and I don’t know if that will happen and what the budget for that would be like,” However, hopefully someday we will get to see the outer world of the series as well.
The show may not stick to the exact narrative, as given in the book. Nevertheless, the good news is that they will stick to the central element of the story.
