Star Trek series and movies have been one of the most interesting and crowd-pulling phenomena in the entertainment world. Star Trek: Discovery originally came out in 2017 and attracted the audience pretty quickly. However, it was criticized for being too dark. The second installment concluded in 2019 and the wait for season three began.
While the first season came in September 2017, season two came in 2019. The wait for the show was long but worth it. However, the good news was that the show had been renewed for another installment. It was renewed before season two came out. Lucky for us the wait is almost over. Let’s find out what is in store for us.
Who is in Star Trek Discovery season 3 cast?
Given the way season two has ended we may get to see Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Saru, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, Oyin Oladejo as Lt. Joann Owosekun, Emily Coutts as Keyla Detmer, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets and Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Georgiou.
There are also new additions to the show. We will be seeing Anson Mount as Christopher Pike and Ethan Peck as Spock and David Ajala as Cleveland Booker.
What is the plot of Star Trek Discovery season 3?
The show was criticized for being dark. However, Jonathan Frakes mentioned that this installment is going to be light-hearted. In season two we saw Michael was in the 32nd century. He mentioned there was going to be a big tonal shift in the show. The pain and guilt will be less and it will be filled with more of reunions of the Discovery crew. It is going to explore a portion that has not been explored before.
In the teaser, we can see Burnham holding a flag on a new planet. This means exploring new space, planets, and timelines are likely. It is likely to start from the time jump where Michael is accompanied by her partner-in-crime. There was also the unsaid story of Spock which will be said in this season.
We will get to understand the relationship between Spock and Michael finally. It was also mentioned by Frakes we will see more optimism this time. So, it looks like there are going to be many changes. Although the essence of the show will remain the same. (check: Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2.)
