When it comes to Sci-Fi Drama it is not easy to pull off some good storytelling skills. Usually, when series or movies are adapted from novels they are not as loved as the novel. Expanse is adapted from a novel of the same name written by James S.A. Corey. However, Expanse is one of the shows in the Sci-Fi genre which has become a hit and is loved by the majority of people.
Set two hundred years in the future when a woman goes missing. A detective and a rogue ship’s captain work together to find the hidden truths behind the biggest conspiracy. When Syfy canceled the show, Amazon came in like a savior and gave this show another chance. It was the best thing that was ever done.
Luckily the show was renewed for season five even before the fourth installment event aired. It was mentioned that the creators would love to make the show on all the 9 volumes by 2030. However, as of now only season five has got a green signal. So, what can we expect from the upcoming installment? Let’s find out.
What is the plot of The Expanse season 5?
The fourth installment was based on Cibola Burn so it is likely that season five will be following the next volume of the novel i.e. Nemesis Games. It follows the increase in the disruption of the solar system. While people depart from the Ring Gates the power held by Earth and Mars begins to break.
We may get to see what happens with our main cast post what happened in season four. Naomi got a blast from her past so probably in this installment we will get to see what happens next with her. Alex left for Mars to visit his wife while Amos headed back to earth.
Holden was trying to hold Earth, Mars and the Belt from falling into chaos as more groups started gaining fame, launching attacks on three major establishments. With that being said we sure do know that there is going to be a lot of disruption and chaos.

When will The Expanse season 5 release (date)? Premiere
The production of the show began in October 2019 and luckily ended before the pandemic could interfere. So, the chances are that the show won’t have to be delayed. Although no confirmed date has been announced for the release. The filming wrapped up in February 2020. (check: Succession Season 3.)
So, it looks like the show would be released in 2020 itself, based on its release history. Integrating special effects in the show will take a bit of time. Looking at the success the show has got it looks like Amazon will bring the show back in late 2020 or early 2021. Anyway, we will make sure to update you as soon as a release date is announced.

Amazon renewed the show for ten episodes and the runtime is going to be around 42-53 minutes. You can stream the show on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
