Based on Gerard Way’s comic books of the same name, the series has two seasons in total as of 2020. The second season was just released on Netflix on July 31, 2020, while the first season came out in February 2019.

The Umbrella Academy Overview/Plot
Sir Reginald Hargreeves is an eccentric billionaire who adopts seven of 43 children who were born on the same day on October 1, 1989, to mothers who weren’t pregnant until their delivery date.
After adopting these children, Reginald refers to them as numbers instead of naming them but are later named by their robot nanny, Grace. Reginald trains them and forms into a superhero team called The Umbrella Academy, but the children do not stick together for long and part ways.
The remaining six siblings: Luther, Diego, Allison, Five, Ben and Klaus are leading their own lives in the present day Luther is a part ape who lived on the moon for four years, Allison has become an actress, Ben has died, Klaus inhabits drug addiction, Five is traveling through future, and Diego attracts trouble. Vanya, the seventh child, is a violinist now and was kept apart from her other siblings after Reginald realized that she doesn’t have her powers.
The five of them reunite after Reginald dies to attend his funeral while unlocking other mysteries in the family together.
Has The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Been Renewed?
It is sporadic for Netflix to announce a season renewal just after a show or its season is launched. There has been made no exception even though TUA is counted among the most popular shows. In short, there hasn’t been an official announcement by the creators or the studio.
However, the fans do anticipate a further season for several reasons. First, the finale ending- after the five siblings were shot by the Handler who was then shot by the Swedish assassin, Five manages, to get his siblings back in 2019 where they find out about Reginald and Ben being alive. They’re with The Sparrow Academy and don’t remember the rest of the family.
Second, we have the actors and creators leaving clues behind, for example, Tom Hopper (Luther) said: “These conversations are always going on.” Later, he told NME “We assume that we’re going to until we’re told we’re not.” When that wasn’t all, Steve Blackwell (the Showrunner) as said, “I know Gerard has eight volumes (of the comic) in his mind, so whether that translates to eight seasons, I don’t know. We combine certain seasons and bits and pieces. It would be lovely to have four or five years of this show. That would be wonderful.”
When will The Umbrella Academy eason 3 release? Premiere Date
TUA lacks a season three confirmation, without which a release date cannot be disclosed. Nonetheless, we estimate the premiere to be in 2022 since the second season took approximately a year. In the times of the Corona Virus and its pandemic, it will possibly take more time than usual.
What will the plot of The Umbrella Academy season 3 be?
While returning to the present time, the year was somehow altered and therefore the siblings land in 1963 instead of 2019, which justifies Reginald and Ben (a different version though) not recognizing them.
TUA has to deal with much more danger than ever, with Harlan in the picture, to convince Lila to join their family (because she was one of the 43 children), knowing The Sparrow Academy and living in an era where they do not have a home.

Is there The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer?
No, and there won’t be a trailer until a long time because the shoot hasn’t begun. Usually, a trailer is released a month before the show’s release date. Till then you could read the comics that inspired our favorite show.
