The ABC crime drama series, Stumptown, was recently renewed for a second season in May 2020. The show debuted on September 25, 2019, and did exceptionally well on the charts. Therefore, the hype around season two is coherent. Currently, we have limited details about season 2, but we’re delighted to share them with you.
First, let me tell you what Stumptown is about, and who’s story does it encircle. Portland is nicknamed as Stumptown where resides an ex-marine and military veteran, Dex Parios. After losing her lover in an explosion and suffering from PTSD, she has to build her life back together while nurturing her brother Ansel and repaying gambling debt.
Since her PTSD doesn’t allow her to land a financially stable job, she becomes a private investigator. She starts solving cases referred to by Detective Miles Hoffman.
When will Stumptown Season 2 Release?
Stumptown Season 1 first aired on September 25, 2019, and ended on March 25, 2020, after eighteen long episodes. Due to the success of the show, the channel allowed the series five extra episodes to run. In contrast, it was initially planned for 13 episodes.
The series was placed at #10 among the highest-rated scripted shows on ABC in 2019. It registered an average of 3.4 million viewers per week and garnered a rating of 0.59 in the 18-49 viewer demographic. Going by the numbers, there seems to be a mixed probability of getting it a new season.
However, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke seemed quite impressed with its performance. The network has renewed the drama for a second run.
If we overlook the current pandemic situation, we would expect a release later in the year if the shooting restrictions are lifted. It seems uncertain at the moment, and we could envision the show to return in 2021 instead.
What will be the Plot of Stumptown Season 2?
We believe that Dex will continue to investigate more cases shortly to keep herself and Ansel financially stable. There might be more investigations and crimes that’ll require more of Dex’s attention. Moreover, if season two plotline is as impressive as season 1, we might get additional episodes like last time.
Last season, Karey Burke, ABC’s entertainment president, quoted, “This fall, Stumptown has delivered a rich, inventive and fun thrill ride each week with a stellar cast that features one of the most fearless female characters at the center.”
